President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi created this situation by insisting the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act be passed immediately. This ensured that no one had the time to read it let alone debate any aspect of it. The nation was in crisis and we needed to act quickly and blindly in order to save our very existence. Look at where it has gotten us. We have Barney Frank demanding that Edward Liddy, CEO of AIG, reveal the names of the executives that received the bonuses he approved when he signed a bill he hadn’t read. Liddy said he would not do so unless Frank could ensure the safety of the executives. Frank scoffed at this, and threatened court action to obtain the names. Demanding the names of American citizens, in a public forum, that did nothing more than receive a monetary bonus that Representative Frank voted for himself is deplorable. What purpose does it serve to share these innocent individuals’ names other than to make them targets? A lightening rod for the American people’s anger to strike, while Frank and his Democrat cohorts quickly pass a new, unconstitutional law, which will strip these executives of 90% of the Congress-approved bonuses they received.
At the same time we have the White House and the Treasury Secretary claiming ignorance. They had no idea the provision existed. This claim is a a blatant lie, an insult to my intelligence and that of my fellow citizens. Despite my public school education and state university degree, I am literate. I had no difficulty reading and understanding the language clearly laid out in the aptly named;TITLE VI – EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION section of the bill. I can easily explain why no one seems to have read this portion as it appears at the tail end of the mammoth bill which no one could bear to read in its entirety.
Ladies and gentleman, our Congress and President believe you to be completely devoid of intelligence, in fact they are counting on this. They aim to stoke the flames of class envy. They want you to be angry with a group of executives who did nothing illegal. In fact they played by the rules established upon the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. I implore you, do not let them fool you. Demanding 90% of this money be returned makes them the only criminals in this scenario.
I repeat, the government doesn’t make money, they take money. The only money that the government has is mine and that of every other tax paying US citizen. The government accumulates our money via taxation then presto ‘government money’. People are overlooking this most basic of principles if they believe that the government has the funds to provide them with health insurance when they cannot afford it themselves. The only thing the government can really give you is your money back.
More ‘stimulating’ spending in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Bill of 2009, The National Cemetery Administration will be receiving $50,000,000 for ‘monument and memorial repairs, including energy projects’. Energy projects? How does one make a ‘greener’ cemetery with all those pesky corpses releasing methane gas as they decompose?
With a treasury secretary that doesn’t pay his taxes and numerous other cabinet appointees withdrawing over similar ‘oversights’, I’m not surprised to learn that the DNC doesn’t pay their bills either. The Chicago Sun Times reported on Friday that the DNC has yet to pay the city for the Obama victory bash it threw back on November 4th. The outstanding balance is $1.74 million and with the city of Chicago facing over a $50 million budget shortfall, that money could prove helpful in saving jobs, you know that little ‘three letter word‘ President Obama made one of the cornerstones of his campaign. Am I expected to believe that the same DNC that spent over $760 million dollars on the Obama campaign doesn’t have $1.74 million to pay for the huge pat on the back party it threw? According to opensecrets.org the Obama campaign as of December 31, 2008 still had over $15 million in campaign contributions in their possession, so why has this debt gone unpaid? If this behavior were practiced by anyone outside of the government they would be thrown in jail. Somehow these dead beats not only avoid prosecution, they’re now lecturing us on fiscal responsibility. Ridiculous.
Under Title II of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, subheading Department of Justice, I found this amazing expenditure of money that is bound to stimulate; $400,000,000 for ‘Science’. What the hell does that mean, ‘science’ and what kind of ‘science’ is the Department of Justice pursuing? I have half a mind to haul my cookies down to Washington, walk onto the floor of the Senate, introduce myself as ‘Science’ and demand they hand over a check for $400,000,000. On a scale of ingenious to insane, I give this an inane.
People have lost their minds over this cartoon published by the New York Post because it features a monkey. Well technically, it’s not a monkey. It’s actually a fifteen year old chimpanzee named Travis formerly of Connecticut. Travis had a bad day earlier this week and despite the Xanax he was fed, he snapped and removed the hands and face of a nice neighbor lady that only wanted to help him. The police arrived and put an end to Travis. The cartoon simply depicts this stranger than fiction tragedy.
The comment being made by the police officer, ‘They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill” refers to congress, the people who actually wrote the stimulus bill. I do not believe the chimp is meant to be representative of President Obama nor do I believe that was the intention of the New York Post or the cartoonist, Sean Delonas.
But what if shock shock horror horror, Delonas did intend the chimp to be representative of the president? Is the use of a simian automatically racist? The same characterization was made of President Bush hundreds of times with no racial connotation, they were merely calling him a moron.
Al Sharpton who lives for this crap, didn’t think the chimp was meant to symbolize the idiocy of our congress. To him it was obviously representative of Obama. He and 200 extremely offended others took to the streets and protested outside of the Post’s New York offices. I hope that those protesters were unemployed. If those people were ditching work over a drawing they deserve to lose their jobs especially in this economy. I mean really, it’s just a cartoon.
Under Title II of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 subheading Department of Commerce, I found something I deem patently absurd and blatantly ridiculous; $650,000,000 being allocated for the ‘Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Program’. I’m going to assume that you’re all aware of the shift in television broadcasting from an analog signal to a digital one. This conversion will only effect those still using an antenna to obtain their television signal. For reasons of economic stimulus and recovery, $650,000,000 will be spent to ensure that these antenna users will have easier access to the digital signal via $40 coupons to obtain a digital converter box. Wow, these converter boxes must be expensive right? Wrong, they cost on average $49.99. There is no eligibility requirement to receive this coupon and the only limitation I could find was 2 coupons per-household. We’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars so that people can watch tv? At least the millions of unemployed won’t be bored. The best part though is of the $650,000,000 being allocated; ‘$90,000,000 may be for education and outreach, including grants to organizations for programs to educate vulnerable populations, including senior citizens, minority communities, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and people living in rural areas, about the transition and to provide one-on-one assistance to vulnerable populations, including help with converter box installation.’ Unbelievable. I wonder how much of that $90,000,000 I could get to teach my grandparents and their fellow ‘vulnerables’ in Florida how to hookup their cable boxes? On a scale of awful to amazing, I’m gonna have to give this one an abismal.
I’ve decided to make use of my abundant free time by skimming through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in order to make my own assessment of just how stimulating it will be to our economy. I’m no economic expert but am I possessed with an overabundance of common sense. Instead of listening to the talking heads drone on and on about this pork and that, I’ve decided to use my enormous brainpower and examine the 1,000 plus page document. I’ll be highlighting that which I deem unnecessary, absurd, useless and ridiculous in subsequent posting so stay tuned….
